Staff Profile_Sophie Firmin

Meet Sophie


Sophie is a Clinical Counsellor and a Clinical Supervisor accredited by the Australian Counselling Association, with over 20,000 direct client hours behind her over 25+ years. She is also a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist. She has worked in urban, remote and very remote settings, including East Kimberley and Arnhem Land and has been an NT resident since 2016.


Sophie has sound knowledge of developmental and inter-generational trauma through the neuro-biology lens of trauma, with extensive experience in brain-based and experiential therapies for addressing not just conscious but also unconscious triggers that affect current everyday living.


Sophie is a committed Christian but sees clients with all spiritual beliefs. Her high ethical standards allow her to work with each clients own beliefs. Clients specifically seeking a Christian counsellor are encouraged to engage her.

Therapies

Sophie is trained and experienced in many therapeutic interventions including most major evidence-based therapies. She has also developed her own model of therapy which addresses not just conscious but also unconscious dynamics and triggers to help people achieve their desired change goals. She is also a certified functional breathing instructor since 2018 and help people with sleep issues (insomnia, snoring, etc.), anxiety problems and athletes that want to improve their fitness via functional breathing.
