Debra is a talented administrator with more than 30 years' experience in the education sector. For most of her career she has worked in Australian universities, including 12 years at Charles Darwin University, 11 years at the University of New South Wales, and 9 years as "agile talent" for the University of the Sunshine Coast, CDU, Curtin University and Western Sydney University.
This work has involved large scale projects including developing the operating model for the new campus at Moreton Bay; resource optimisation for university space management and interim appointments to executive roles. In 2020 Debra broadened her skill-set by gaining NMAS accreditation as a mediator and has worked with managers from the NT public sector to improve skills in performance management.
In 2023 Debra achieved REAL Conflict Coaching accreditation, assisting clients from public and private sectors alike through conflict coaching and leadership development.
Debra is a firm advocate of achieving operational excellence through collaborative planning and the establishment of realistic goals and timelines. Her calm and consultative manner is highly effective in dealing with situations, issues and people. She staunchly believes that operational departments must be purpose-driven, addressing the precise needs of the business while demonstrating clear value through their service offerings.
Debra's commitment to continuous process improvement ensures that her teams consistently deliver high-quality services, emphasising the significance of mastering fundamental tasks for sustained success; in essence "doing the simple things well".
