We are moving into the season of giving and what better gift to give than the gift of your time and care?
In the past, the EASA team have been fortunate enough to hear from the lovely Megan Saltmarsh, Executive Manager of the NT branch of Volunteering SA & NT, about the benefits of volunteering on your health and wellbeing.
Many people volunteer in many different ways and for different reasons. You may be one of approximately 25,896 volunteers across the Northern Territory that volunteered through an organisation or group.
You may volunteer your time to help your elderly neighbour with their garden, provide emotional support to a friend, help out a local community group with their bake sale, or conversation activity.
And did you know that there are many health and wellbeing benefits that some from volunteering?
When a person volunteers it has been shown to bring meaning and purpose to their life, while increasing their self-esteem and wellbeing. Volunteering has also shown to relieve stress, ease symptoms of depression, and improve social relationships.
So, how does volunteering positively impact a person's life in this way?
